Description

Research Overview

LL-37 is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the only known human cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide. Composed of 37 amino acids, LL-37 is naturally produced by epithelial cells, neutrophils, and various immune cells as part of the innate immune system. It is widely studied in laboratory research for its interactions with innate immunity, antimicrobial activity, inflammatory signaling, wound biology, biofilm regulation, and host defense mechanisms.

LL-37 is an investigational research peptide and has not been approved for therapeutic use in humans. This material is supplied by Marsden Research Labs exclusively for qualified laboratory research applications and is not offered for human or veterinary use.

Mechanism of Action

LL-37 is an amphipathic cationic peptide that interacts with microbial membranes and numerous host-cell receptors involved in innate immunity. Laboratory studies have investigated its role in membrane disruption of microorganisms, chemotactic signaling, cytokine modulation, biofilm regulation, epithelial barrier function, angiogenesis, and cellular migration. LL-37 also participates in immune cell recruitment and modulation of inflammatory signaling pathways, making it an important tool for studying host defense biology.

Because of its broad biological activity, LL-37 is frequently investigated in innate immunity, antimicrobial peptide biology, inflammatory signaling, wound biology, epithelial physiology, and immunomodulatory pathways.
